Artillery shells and bullets whizzing over the trenches created a cacophony of noise. With all of this noise, shouted commands could go unheard. Trench whistles were used to overcome this. British forces were the first to make use of whistles in the trenches of World War I. The whistles were made by J. Hudson & Company, which was later bought out by ACME Whistles. They continue to manufacture whistles today.
A reproduction of a World War I trench whistle made from metal with the date 1916 stamped on it. The working whistle is supplied in a clear bag with a header card explaining when it was used.

Orders between £30.01 and £50 are charged a flat fee of £6.95.
Usual UK delivery timescale (excluding custom prints) is between 5 and 7 working days from the date of dispatch. Please allow up to 14 working days for delivery. Unframed orders are shipped within 5 working days (normally shipped next day).
Framed orders are shipped within 20 working days.

If you are not completely satisfied with your item you may return it within 28 days for a refund.

The name hidden in the first letters of each city is Mata Hari, who was convicted of spying for Germany during the First World War.
