Duplicated hand-drawn sketch map showing the craters around Givenchy, the scene of bitter fighting involving the 55th (West Lancaster) Division in April 1918. Additional information is written on the map which was used by the 1st/4th Battalion, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regiment. Positions such as 'Orchard Keep' are clearly marked, this was where, on 9th April 1918, 2nd Lieutenant Joseph Henry Collin won a posthumous Victoria Cross when he attacked enemy positions with revolver, Mill's grenade and eventually by machine gun. Collin is buried in Vielle-Chapelle New Military Cemetery, France.
