Forget Me Not Brooch

Description

The forget-me-not has an historic connection with remembrance from the First World War. During 1916 the first events to raise funds for the widows and orphans of the men who had already fallen in the war were held.  Saturday 13 May was also chosen as the official Flag Day – the flag itself represented a bunch of Forget Me Not flowers on a blue ground. Silk embroidered postcards sent from the trenches during the First World War often featured Forget Me Nots as well as flags and other flowers.

Today the poppy has become the universal symbol of Remembrance but the humble forget-me-not still holds a place.

This silver finish enamelled brooch is a beautiful and subtle symbol symbol of love. Brooch dimensions: 4.5cm high by 3.5cm wide
