This reproduction WWI Memorial Plaque is made from lead-free pewter. It is supplied with in a clear medal wallet with colour header card.
The Memorial Plaque was issued after the First World War to the next-of-kin of all British and Empire service personnel who were killed as a result of the war. The plaques were cast in bronze, and came to be known as the "Dead Man's Penny", because of the similarity in appearance to the much smaller penny coin.
Please note this high quality replica plaque will not have the same weight and exact finish as the original medals and is suitable for educational purposes, as a souvenir or as basic replacement for missing medals in a set. The original plaque had a 12cm diameter, this copy has a diameter of 4.5cm.
