This original jewellery piece has been created by Alexander Thurlow exclusively for The National Archives. Inspired by our iconic brutalist building the necklace is made from reconstituted stone set in zinc. The designs of this jewellery range echo the dramatic shapes of a building that houses 1,000 years of history.

Purpose built in 1976, the imposing stacked concrete slabs of the the building were later linked to a post-modern extension by a circular atrium, which playfully features floor finishes and glasswork imagery by artist Anne Smyth. Her inspiration were the seals and shields in medieval documents, the nearby River Thames and the movement of information in and out of the building. This piece evokes the shapes of our monumental pillared entrance. Each piece comes gift boxed with an information card.

Pendant 40mm diameter. 400mm chain (approx) with lobster claw clasp.
