The book provides a brief history of the theatre in Britain and identifies libraries and record repositories, etc. where research can be undertaken, as well as examples of how Victorian showmen were successfully traced and researched. Contents include topics of: newspapers, playbills, biographies, fair and circuses, music hall, sources in Ireland and Scotland, specialist archives and collections and more.
