In 2018 as part of the First World War Centenary Programme The National Archives undertook a graphic design project with young people to interpret some of the records held in our collection. The result was a collection of ten tales presented in graphic form inspired by original First World War documents held here at The National Archives.
The workshop led by Carol Adlam created a series of tales: The Yeoman, The Artist, The Cavalryman, The Pigioneer, The Mapmaker, The Piper, The Captain, The Doctor, The Officer, The Unknown Warrior. The young people involved were Kai Conlon, Sam Cunningham, Blythe Eveleigh-Evans, Eloise James, Ned Knight, Matthew Lee, Emily Lodge, Bluebell Selley and Chang Yi-Yun. They represent different aspects of the conflict and display tremendous talent and flair. The tales are reproduced here in newspaper broadsheet format.
